Creating virtual tours with 360° photographs

Create new virtual tour

Log into your Evryplace panel. In the presentations tab (left bar) select New presentation button.

Select presentation title 

This window has it’s own page<link>.

Fill out (1) title and (2) description which best describes the property, building or space you are going to present. Title is required to create a new presentation, description is not. We recommend using the description nonetheless, as it will be very useful to your viewers. You can optionally select (3) and (4) – tour icon and a color theme. 

(5) Select create.

Add scenes – 360° photographs

To create a 360 virtual tour you need to upload at least one 360° photograph. Select (2) New scene from Scene panel.

Select (3) Add and then Files. 

Find the folder on your pc where you stored your 360° picture files. 

(4) Select the photospheres you want to use in this virtual tour. (5) Open (in Windows or macOS window).

Wait for the 360° photos to upload. 

1. Select the 360° picture from the list on the left.
2. You can drag your mouse around to look around to preview the 360° picture.
3. Confirm by pressing Select.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you have all the pictures you need in your virtual tour.

Deleting 360° pictures.

In case you added 360° pictures that you do not need or want in your virtual tour, you can delete them. It will free some of your Evryplace cloud space.

In order to delete unwanted 360° pictures switch the view to Grid view. Open the context menu by selecting the three dots next to the name of the 360° picture. Select Delete.

Alternative methods for uploading 360° photographs

1. Select Files icon in Evryplace Panel (vertical bar on the left) to display all the folders and files in your account. 2. Select a folder or create a new one for the 360° photos you want to upload. 3. Select Add and select photos from your computer to upload them. 4. To use them in a virtual tour select New Scene in Scenes panel on the left in the newly created presentation. 5. When Select background photosphere window opens select My files on the top bar and from there go to folder in which you stored the photospheres you want to use. Adding the 360° photos through New Presentation is quick and easy – we recommend adding pictures this way in the beginning, but when you need to create multiple presentations in one sitting it can be faster to add photos through Evryplace folders – which we recommend for more advanced users, who have already created at least couple of tours. 

Adding the 360° photos through the Mobile App is fast and convenient – especially because it automatically creates a New presentation and fills the Scenes list for you. We recommend giving it a try at least once.

Linking the scenes into a virtual tour

When your presentation contains at least two Scenes you can create a Transition – it will allow your viewers to travel between them. 

1. On the list of scenes click and hold the left mouse button on the scene you want to create the transition to and (2) drop it on the scene you are currently in. After the scene is dropped a window allowing you to select the viewing angle for this transition will open. It is described in the next paragraph.

Example shown above: I currently am in the “Berlin” room (the blue one). I want to add a button next to the door which will allow my viewer to go to the “Warsaw” room (the green one). I drag and drop the “Warsaw” scene from the list next to the door leading to that room. 

Remember to always create transitions in both ways. In the example shown above it will mean that I need to go into the “Berlin” room and add a transition to “Warsaw” room, and then I need to go into the “Warsaw” room and add a transition to “Berlin”. Otherwise viewers will be able to enter “Warsaw” and will get stuck there as there will be no way to get back to “Berlin”.

Generally you want to create “doors” to every room the viewers would be able to go into from each room if they were there in the real world.

Setting the viewing angle for Scenes and Transitions

Every Scene and Transition should have a defined viewing angle – it can be understood as the default angle the “camera” is facing when you open a scene or use transition. For Scenes it is best to select an angle that shows the most important key point of the room or the one you want to highlight. For transitions it is best to use an angle that your head would be facing in the real world if you walked from where you are currently standing in the virtual tour in the direction of the transition. This way your virtual walk will be intuitive and feel natural to use.

Below you will find a video that shows how to use viewing angles.

1. From the Scenes list select the scene for which you want to define a viewing angle. 
2. In the Scene inspector in the Details tab (column on the right) you can set a default viewing angle for that scene. Select Set scene entry frame and pick the viewing angle in a window that will appear. It will be used when the scene is opened in any way other than by a Transition button
3. To set a viewing angle for Transitions click on that transition and then in the Widget inspector, General tab click the thumbnail which shows the room the transition leads to. It will open a window in which you will pick the viewing angle.
   

The function “keep the same looking angle between scenes” is used when you link the scene to the copy of itself, not when you connect two different scenes. Using this method you can you can have different information divided between a scene and its copy. First set of information like text, pictures and videos will be shown in the first scene, then after transitioning to the copy a different set of information can show up.

Changing the scene order

When you add scenes to the presentation they will automatically be set in order in which they were added to the Scenes list. You can change this order if you want to. It will make working with your presentation easier for you and viewing to other people when it’s published. 

The first scene on the list will be the opening scene that your viewers will see as first after opening your virtual tour.

1. Find a scene you want to reposition on your Scenes list and hover your mouse over it – you will notice up and down arrows appear
2. Use the arrows to reposition each scene where you want it to be.

Your virtual tour is finished now

When you complete all the steps above you should have finished your most basic virtual tour that is ready for publication. You can publish and start sharing it or you can continue to work on your tour with the Editor to develop it further for example by adding the multimedia widgets to it.
